LOS ANGELES INT'L AIRPORT (LAX) The Los Angeles Department of Airports (LAWA) provides a free connection between the airport and the Aviation Metro Rail Station green rail line. Bus "G" can be picked up on the lower arrival level of every terminal. Look for the sign "LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections". The "C" bus is a shuttle that goes to the LAX City Bus Center, pickup is at the same location as bus "G". ONCE AT THE AVIATION METRO RAIL STATION You can take the rail line south to Redondo Beach or east to Norwalk. Go toward Norwalk for the Imperial/Wilmington station, where you can connect with the blue line, which connects to other rail lines throughout the city. ONCE AT LAX CITY BUS CENTER At LAX City Bus Center, transfers can be made throughout Los Angeles on Metro (Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority) buses. For routes and schedules from the LAX City Bus Station to where you need to go, use the Metro Trip Planning Tool at www.metro.net. Fare is $1.25, and an all day pass is $5.00. Ask the driver about transfer costs. More information at www.metro.net or call 800-266-6883. There are also four suburban bus lines that serve the LAX City Bus Center, all go in and out of lot C. The Santa Monica Big Blue Bus serves the LAX City Bus Center on Route 3, connecting it to the UCLA Transit Center and Santa Monica. Buses operate every 20 minutes or so from 5:38am until 12:09am weekdays, every 20 to 30 minutes on Saturdays from 5:56am until 12:08am, and every 20 to 30 minutes on Sundays from 6:14am until 12:08am. Fare is 75 cents. The Big Blue Bus also operates "Rapid 3", an express route, every 15 minutes from 6:10am to 9:40am, and from 2:46pm to 7:15pm, Monday through Friday. Fare for the "Rapid 3" is $1.75. More information at www.bigbluebus.com or call 310-451-5444. The Culver City Bus Lines connects the LAX City Bus Center with the UCLA Ackerman Terminal. Line 6 operates every 15 to 20 minutes from 5:25am until 10:45pm, with service intervals increasing after 8:00pm to every 30 minutes to an hour on weekdays, every 20 minutes on weekends from 5:58am until 10:56pm, with intervals also increasing after 8:00pm. The bus goes through Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach before ending at the Pacific Coast Hwy and Hawthorne Blvd. Buses run every 30 minutes or so from 6:00am to 9:30pm weekdays, hourly on Saturdays from 8:37am to 6:37, 8:56am to 5:56pm on Sundays (also hourly). This bus travels through El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach before terminating at Palos Verdes and Via Valencia. Service operates from 6:00am until 9:06pm, every 40 to 60 minutes, Monday through Friday, and from 6:57am until 8:06pm, every 60 to 70 minutes, Saturdays and Sundays. Fare is $1.00.
