SOUTH BEND REGIONAL AIRPORT (SBN) The South Bend Regional Airport is a true intermodal center, with air, rail, local bus, and intercity bus companies serving the airport. TRANSPO, the region's public bus service, operates a bus (Route 4) from the airport to South Street Station in downtown South Bend weekdays every thirty to sixty minutes from 5:19am until 9:24pm. On Saturdays, service starts at 6:28am, then operates hourly from 6:58am until 5:58pm, no Sunday service. Fare is $1.00. Transfers are free. The bus can be picked up outside the terminal near the center or the end of the terminal outside of the rental car counters. The TRANSPO web site is www.sbtranspo.com, or call 574-233-2131 for information. South Shore Railroad connects the South Bend airport with downtown Chicago, about a 2-1/2 hour trip. Weekday departure times are at 6:32am, 8:48am, 12:59pm, 4:57pm, and 8:52pm. Check the South Shore Railroad for weekend times. Cost is $11.15 one way, but discounts are available.
