SAN FRANCISCO (SFO) Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) serves the airport with rail service connecting the airport with downtown San Francisco and all points in the BART network, including Oakland, Pittsburg, Berkeley, Fremont and Richmond. Trains run from 4:07am until midnight every 15 minutes weekdays and 20 minutes on weekends. Service starts at 6:00am on Saturdays, and 8:00am on Sundays. Fare is $2.75 to $7.10 based on distance, downtown San Francisco costs $4.95. For more information, go to www.bart.gov or call 415-989-2278. San Mateo County Transit (Samtrans) has Route KX, an express bus from the airport to downtown San Francisco and costs $4.00. It runs from 5:50am to 10:37pm every 30 minutes, from 7:20am to 9:30pm weekends. The bus also goes to San Mateo, Palo Alto, San Carlos and Redwood City the other direction. That direction costs $1.50. Route 379 is the overnight bus using the same route. It runs hourly from 1:56am to 3:56am. Route 292 is a local bus to downtown San Francisco and costs $3.00.
